The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is crucial in representing our Manufacturing Operations throughout the New Product Development lifecycle. This role is essential for facilitating technical discussions, leading the development of manufacturing processes, ensuring exceptional quality standards, and crafting testing strategies within our Supply Chain. As a vital contributor to Walmart's automation initiatives, this position requires a balance of strategic insight and practical execution, setting the foundation for significant growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive mechanical and/or electrical engineering solutions, including methodologies, processes, designs, and capital requirements, to support both new product launches and ongoing production needs.
  • Collaborate across various departments to extend engineering expertise to internal teams and external partners, ensuring the development of product specifications, promoting best practices in design for excellence (DFx), and integrating innovative manufacturing and testing methodologies.
  • Establish strong technical partnerships with key contract manufacturers and strategic suppliers, leading the selection process and conducting regular audits.
  • Resolve supplier-related quality and yield issues, guiding discussions for corrective actions.
  • Present departmental performance metrics, including quality ratings, yield rates, productivity, and bill of materials (BOM) maturity.
  • Initiate cost-reduction strategies in collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
  • Evaluate the needs of the Manufacturing Engineering department and develop Standard Operating Procedures to support Walmart's growth objectives.
  • Monitor staffing requirements, assess individual performance, and promote the professional development of the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Guide and oversee the efforts of manufacturing engineers.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, estimated at around 20%.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of extensive experience in electrical and/or mechanical manufacturing engineering, particularly with electromechanical products.
  • Proven track record as a hands-on leader in Electrical or Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, capable of navigating between strategic planning and execution.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making, supported by a history of high-quality execution.
  • Expertise in electrical and/or mechanical assemblies, automation, design reviews, DFx analysis for electrical components, PFMEA, GD&T, and SPC.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and ERP systems.
  • Practical experience with Lean/6 Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies in a structured manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain momentum during changes, with a talent for establishing standard operations amidst significant growth.
  • A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
