About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Aide to join our team at Amergis. As a School Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs, working closely with the special education department and supervising designees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, such as lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
  • Assist students in general education classes and communicate with teachers to ensure seamless support.
  • Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences, promoting socialization and inclusion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with related service personnel, such as PT, OT, and SLP, to implement prescribed programs and activities.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
  • Participate in behavior management techniques, as directed by teachers and other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, copying materials, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
  • Provide physical support, such as transfers and ambulation, as needed.
Requirements
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in Amergis' Competency program, when applicable.
  • Hold current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Complete new hire training, as applicable to the job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
