Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable processes from invoice entry to payment execution.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including customer invoicing and payment collection.
- Conduct job costing for government contracts.
- Handle daily accounting for cash deposits.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Process payroll and maintain payroll journal entries and vacation balances.
- Execute advanced general ledger account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and updating forecast schedules.
- Participate in the closing process and cycle.
- Master budgeting and forecasting processes, identifying areas of concern.
- Prepare financial reports as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of indirect rates and basic pricing strategies.
- Organize and manage vendor and accounting records.
- Prepare and update spreadsheets on a weekly basis.
- Conduct research and respond to inquiries and information requests.
- Monitor cash flow in alignment with client requirements.
- Ensure deliverables are met and client satisfaction is achieved for assigned accounts.
- Provide cost-effective, accurate, and compliant accounting services to clients.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff.
- Manage tasks and deliverables with some oversight.
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in accounting required, including full-cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, financial statements, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing.
- Proficiency in general ledger management, job costing, and GAAP compliance is essential.
- Highly organized with meticulous record-keeping and file management skills.
- Able to manage competing priorities with varying levels of complexity.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Understanding of government contracting, including familiarity with FAR, DCAA compliance, and indirect rate structures.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask, solve problems, and take initiative.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software as required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for eligibility for security clearance to support cleared clients.
