Job Title: Controller

Impact Automation Inc is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team. As a key member of our business operations team, you will be responsible for managing cash flow forecasting, job costing, and financial reporting for multiple customers' projects.

Responsibilities

As a Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing sales tax filings in 20 states using Avalara
  • Managing business registrations by state for sales tax, income tax, and remote employees
  • Managing business tax filings for federal and multiple states with external advisors/CPA
  • Managing business tax filings in Canada
  • Supporting outside accountant with quarterly estimated tax payments & year-end tax preparation
  • Reviewing and maintaining a company-wide monthly reporting package, including overall business cash flow forecasts, analyzing and reporting on A/R and A/P, overheads, including employee hours for billable/non-billable time, project accounting & project close-out reports
  • Reviewing, identifying, and correcting as necessary any discrepancies during the month-end close to ensure financial reports are accurate and complete
  • Strategic planning for accounting software, banking, tax planning, other accounting tools
  • Creating and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls that will help support the company's rapid expansion
  • Driving process improvement efforts to streamline financial operations, such as add-on modules to accounting software
  • Preparing subcontract financial reporting semi-annually for U.S. government contracts
  • Identifying, applying for, and submitting applications for County, State, and Federal programs for tax credits
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, job costing, and forecasting
Preferences

We prefer candidates with:

  • CPA certification
  • Advanced experience with Acumatica
  • Experience converting a company from QuickBooks to another accounting platform
  • Experience in a construction, contracting, or other job costing environment
  • Experience negotiating service agreements (forklifts/hotels/rental cars)
What You Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Prior experience reviewing and analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Prior experience job costing and providing job financial reviews
  • Proven experience with account reconciliations, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income tax, and sales & use tax
  • Ability to function well in a team and autonomous environment
  • Excellent MS Office skills, including intermediate Excel experience
  • Skilled at multi-tasking with strong organization and attention to detail
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a proactive approach to solving problems
