Location: Central Area, Rockledge, Timothy J. Mills Fire Rescue Center, Travels Countywide
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Prevention Inspector to promote fire safety and conduct fire hazard inspections for a designated area of Brevard County.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct fire hazard inspections to identify potential fire risks and hazards.
- Develop and implement fire safety plans to mitigate fire risks and hazards.
- Enforce fire safety regulations and codes to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to promote fire safety and prevention.
- Provide education and training to the public on fire safety and prevention.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a current valid State of Florida Firesafety Inspector I certification, issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
- Must possess a valid State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and maintain said certification in an active status during the term of employment.
- Must possess a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an approved agency and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
- Must not have been found guilty or plead guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude within the last five years.
- Must be of good moral character, as determined by a local Clerk of Court, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal background investigation.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check administered by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office (BCSO).
- Must have fingerprints on file with Brevard County.
- Must successfully pass a physical examination and a vision test, as determined by a licensed medical practitioner, currently under contract with Brevard County.
- Must be able to work irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Must be able to work in a confined space, such as a vehicle or a building.
- Must be able to work at heights above ground level.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
- The employee must be able to carry 50 pounds or more.
- The employee must be able to push 50 pounds or more.
- The employee must be able to pull 50 pounds or more.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a current valid State of Florida Firesafety Inspector I certification, issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
Salary: $18.37 hourly. Additional incentives may be available, in accordance with the most current IAFF Rank & File Bargaining Agreement.
