Techwave is actively looking for skilled Field Technicians to enhance our Engineering Services Team. The role involves extensive field data collection across the continental US, depending on project requirements. Candidates should be prepared for significant fieldwork, potentially lasting up to two weeks, collaborating with teams to gather necessary data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify optimal sites for new above-ground facilities and equipment, including cabinets, pedestals, and utility boxes.
  • Gather and accurately document pole information, including measurements and placement.
  • Conduct surveys for underground/buried cable layouts to identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform site surveys and walks for new substructure installations as needed.
  • Establish locations for fiber optic cables, ensuring accurate representation of construction routes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot cable path issues in the field, providing solutions to the engineering team.
  • Maintain personal vehicle in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Document job sites and conditions through photographs and sketches.
  • Upload and edit images, notes, and sketches for clarity and cohesiveness.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel using a personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency in uploading, downloading, and editing documents using project management software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with Google Earth/Maps.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess and resolve issues effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining field safety standards.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in engineering, construction, architecture, or telecommunications.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications engineering standards and data collection practices.
  • Adept at identifying field issues that may affect network design.
  • Capable of collecting essential data for design purposes, including OSP features.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Experience with interpreting utility designs and construction techniques.
  • Ability to identify construction methods within right-of-way and existing utilities.
  • Basic understanding of make-ready construction processes.
  • Experience in estimating utility locations and managing necessary measurements.

Travel Requirements:

  • Daily travel to job sites using a personal vehicle is required, with mileage reimbursement.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be necessary based on project scope.
