Field Engineer for OSP Fiber Optics

We are seeking an Outside Plant Fiber Optic Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves working in various locations and offers the opportunity to contribute to our engineering services.

Position Overview:

As a key member of our Engineering Services Team, you will be responsible for conducting field data collection across diverse geographical areas. Your role will require significant time spent in the field, collaborating with team members to gather essential data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify optimal locations for new above-ground facilities and equipment, including cabinets and utility boxes.
  • Gather and accurately document pole information and existing measurements.
  • Conduct surveys for underground cable layouts to identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform site surveys and walks for new substructure locations as needed.
  • Determine locations for fiber optic cables and depict new construction routes.
  • Identify and solve cable path issues in the field, communicating solutions to the engineering team.
  • Maintain personal vehicle to meet company safety standards.
  • Document job sites through photographs and sketches.
  • Upload and edit images, notes, and sketches for quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel using a personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess and resolve issues.
  • Commitment to maintaining field safety standards.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in engineering, construction, architecture, or telecommunications.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications engineering standards and data collection.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction techniques and requirements.
  • Experience in estimating utility locations and interpreting designs.

Travel Requirements:

  • Daily travel to job sites using a personal vehicle is required.
  • Occasional overnight stays may be necessary based on project needs.

This position is classified as non-exempt and full-time.
