About the Role

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join our dynamic team in Subacute Recovery Services. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care to individuals seeking support for mental health and substance use concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Care: Take appropriate measures to meet the client's daily basic needs for health and safety, including preparing and serving meals, conducting safety checks, monitoring clients, and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Documentation and Data Entry: Complete all required electronic and paper charting, documentation, and data entry of clients as outlined in KMHS guidelines, manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Clinical Activities: Participate in clinical activities as directed by a supervisor, including facilitating approved group activities, conducting ongoing observation and assessment of the client's mental status, and recording client nutritional intake, sleep, and vitals.
  • Client Referrals and Safety Protocols: Take referrals appropriately and follow specific behavioral protocols for clients as directed by a supervisor.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete all paperwork involved in providing direct client care, including admission and discharge paperwork, confidentiality agreements, client rights documentation, and tracking sheets.
Requirements
  • Experience: Entry-level position with no prior related work experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid Washington Food Handler card and Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experienced (minimum two years of job-related experience), relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness, and capacity to work well with children and families.
Working Conditions

The Behavioral Health Technician will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring the ability to maintain audio and visual observation at all times, stand and be mobile for long periods, and lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. The successful candidate will also be able to remain calm and utilize safety training in potentially assaultive client interactions.
