Key Responsibilities

The Second Lien Loan Advisor plays a crucial role in initiating collections on loan portfolios to optimize recovery and assign loans to suitable workout strategies.

Essential Duties Include:
  • Reviewing loan details for 1 to 180+ delinquent second lien accounts.
  • Engaging with borrowers to resolve delinquencies, establish payment plans, and assess borrower responses for modifications or settlements.
  • Recommending optimal workout strategies tailored to individual borrower situations.
  • Identifying and suggesting legal actions when necessary.
  • Increasing borrower contact frequency based on payment history.
  • Completing additional projects and tasks as directed by management.
  • Working to prevent foreclosure through loan modifications, repayment arrangements, and deferments.
  • Coordinating with property inspectors, appraisers, and real estate agents for property evaluations.
  • Analyzing borrower income through document reviews, including financial statements and credit reports, to propose feasible solutions.
  • Utilizing delegated authority tools and client matrices for workout strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies during calls and loss mitigation efforts.
  • Addressing homeowner inquiries and managing escalated cases with comprehensive responses.
  • Maintaining up-to-date servicing files with necessary documentation and correspondence.
  • Employing manual and automated calling strategies to reach delinquent homeowners.
  • Understanding legal requirements and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) guidelines.
  • Exhibiting effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Contributing to departmental success by understanding and positively influencing performance metrics.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Obtaining a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license.
  • Familiarity with various systems, including Loss Mitigation System (LMS) and Delegated Authority (DA) Tool.
  • Managing personal negotiation worklists.
  • Handling multiple mortgage products, including Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC), junior liens, and Adjustable-Rate Mortgages (ARM) that are current to 180 days delinquent.
  • Performing related duties as assigned by management.
*These essential functions are fundamental to the role and must be performed on-site, as they cannot be conducted remotely. An in-person presence is vital for oversight, training, collaboration, and productivity.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in collections and loss mitigation is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in using tracking databases and navigating the Internet.
  • Understanding of loan terminology, rights, and processes.
  • Strong work ethic, high productivity, and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new skills and tasks.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and negotiation skills.
