Position Overview:

The Clinical Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering both routine and advanced respiratory care to patients across various age groups, including adults, pediatrics, and neonates. This role encompasses work in critical care environments, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

- Execute complex respiratory therapy procedures for patients in need.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide optimal care during inpatient treatment and transport.
- Engage in training opportunities for new staff and assist in educating peers on new technologies and methods.
- Maintain effective communication with medical staff, ensuring clarity in care plans and treatment protocols.
- Adapt to various work environments within the health system, including potential rotating shifts.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of two years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting.
- Proficient in the use of high-frequency ventilators, including HFOV and HFJV.
- Willingness to work with both adult and pediatric populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Recent experience with neonatal intubation.
- Competency in utilizing oscillators and nitric oxide therapy for neonates.

Educational Background:

- Graduate of an accredited two-year Respiratory Therapy program.
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:

- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in California.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required, along with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred for NICU roles.

Skills and Abilities:

- Comprehensive knowledge of respiratory therapy principles and practices.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Proficient in setting up, monitoring, and troubleshooting respiratory equipment.
- Ability to provide compassionate care while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

- Capability to stand or walk for the majority of a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and transferring patients safely.
