Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our team at the University of California. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing advanced respiratory care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us deliver exceptional patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex respiratory therapy for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Work in all adult and pediatric/NICU critical care areas, with opportunities for training and professional growth
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
• Utilize advanced practice skills, including the application and utilization of high-frequency ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Provide educational opportunities for new employees and in-service training for staff on new equipment and techniques
• Demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, and public relations skills

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved 2-year Respiratory Therapy program
• AA/AS degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar
• RCP State License in the state of California
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• CPR: American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
• Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience intubating neonates within the last year
• Competent in using the oscillator and nitric oxide on neonates
• BS degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar
• NRP certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand and walk 75% of the 12-hour work day
• Ability to sit, push, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods
• Ability to transfer patients weighing a minimum of 100 lbs. using equipment or with assistance
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 35 lbs.
