Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Electrical Section Team Lead to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Round Rock, TX. As a key member of our integrated facility and infrastructure design team, you'll be responsible for leading the electrical team, driving growth, and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and marketing efforts.
  • Manage the technical and operational activities of the electrical discipline, including design, staff development, and workload management.
  • Prepare and review project budgets and scopes for the electrical discipline, ensuring timely and profitable delivery.
  • Schedule and coordinate all work performed within the discipline, prioritizing tasks and projects to meet client needs.
  • Monitor scope of work and scope changes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of projects.
  • Facilitate coordination with other discipline groups, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct interviews and provide mentoring to new staff members, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
  • Establish employee goals and conduct performance reviews, fostering a culture of growth and development.
  • Schedule and conduct section meetings to discuss productivity, workload, and quality control issues.
  • Advance the skill level of personnel through training, education, and experience, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with electrical discipline managers from other business group locations to review workload, project status, and staffing requirements.
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates for proposals, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Monitor changes in codes, regulations, and client standards, keeping staff informed and up-to-date on current industry practices.
  • Implement required changes into electrical design standards, procedures, and deliverables, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Perform quality control reviews, ensuring adherence to HDR's high standards.
  • Serve as a Project Manager or Task Lead as needed, providing leadership and guidance to project teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis required.
  • A minimum of 7 years management experience, with a strong track record of leadership and operational excellence.
  • Professional registration or license in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in design calculations, specifications, and preparation of construction drawings for corporate/commercial development, industrial, federal, or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong communication, listening, and mentoring skills, with experience mentoring junior staff.
  • Preference given to local candidates, with a strong understanding of the local market and industry trends.
  • Experience and interest in sustainable design, including credentials in high-performance building design similar to LEED.
