Healthcare Support Specialist

Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is mandatory

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tasks under the guidance of a physician or physician assistant.
  • Assist medical professionals in examination rooms.
  • Guide patients to examination rooms, conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and accurately document all information in the patient's medical record.
  • Provide instructions to patients as directed by the physician or physician assistant.
  • Ensure that all pertinent reports, lab results, and information are accessible in patients' medical records prior to their appointments.
  • Maintain examination rooms with adequate medical supplies, uphold instrument cleanliness, and prepare sterilization as necessary.
  • Handle telephone messages and provide responses and information to patient, physician, and pharmacy inquiries.
  • Prioritize and relay messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and Physician Assistants.
  • Keep all logs and necessary checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen levels, cold sterilization fluid changes, etc.) up to date.
  • Exhibit effective interpersonal skills, including composure, diplomacy, and the ability to interact with a diverse patient population.
  • Manage confidential employee information with professionalism.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Efficiently manage time and organize workflow and documentation.
  • Respond to medical emergencies promptly and appropriately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice and Clinical area.
