POSITION SUMMARY

As a Healthcare Support Specialist at Ocana Medical Center, this role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring a welcoming environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet patients warmly, whether in person or via phone, addressing inquiries and managing appointment scheduling.
  • Prepare examination rooms meticulously prior to patient visits.
  • Confirm patient details through interviews, review medical histories, record vital signs, and clarify the purpose of visits.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, prepare laboratory samples, conduct basic tests, manage contaminated materials, administer medications, process prescription refills, and perform blood draws and ECGs.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and legal regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information to protect patient trust and organizational integrity.
  • Support the healthcare provider's practice by following professional standards and complying with all relevant regulations.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the healthcare practice's reputation by taking initiative and exploring new ways to add value to the role.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma is mandatory.
  • Certification as a medical assistant from an accredited program is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and drawing blood is necessary.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
  • Experience in patient interviews and chart documentation is important.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial.

Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
