KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary role of the Healthcare Support Specialist is to deliver essential clinical assistance to the healthcare providers, ensuring that patient care is administered effectively and efficiently. This involves collaboration with the primary care provider (PCP), teamwork with fellow healthcare support staff, and maintaining clear and consistent communication. The specialist is dedicated to providing compassionate and competent care while advocating for quality patient experiences. Adherence to legal regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, Universal Precautions, etc.) and company policies is a daily responsibility.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Recording and monitoring patient vital signs and medical histories.
- Assisting healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Preparing patients for assessments and conducting routine screening tests.
- Observing patients and reporting any changes in their conditions to the PCP or other clinical personnel.
- Coordinating necessary laboratory and radiographic studies as directed by healthcare providers.
- Managing patient communications, including screening calls and relaying information.
- Providing health education and coaching to patients under the guidance of the healthcare provider.
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety in clinical areas and ensuring proper inventory of medical supplies.
- Documenting patient interactions accurately and ethically.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Current CPR certification preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to confidentiality.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The role is performed in a general office environment with moderate noise levels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for various tasks. The employee may occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
TRAVEL
Local travel may be required as needed.
SAFETY
Minimal hazards are associated with this role.
