Job Summary:

The Youth Development Professional will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities within a specific program area, such as education, special education, social recreation, arts and crafts, and physical education. The primary focus will be to provide programming that empowers youth to become lifelong learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare youth for success by promoting and stimulating program participation, providing guidance and role modeling to members, and preparing them for future opportunities.
  • Develop and implement programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors, including daily homework and tutoring assistance, attendance tracking, and supply management.
  • Collaborate with the Director or Coordinator to address program needs, concerns, and problems, and provide regular updates on program progress.
  • Supervise members in a safe environment, maintain order and discipline, and ensure a clean and organized room.
  • Participate in regular unit and organization staff meetings to ensure a productive work environment.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of youth development principles
  • Good level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
  • Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
  • Ability to deal with the general public and plan and implement quality programs for youth
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications and TB clearance
  • Must be fully vaccinated and have a valid State Driver's License
Work Environment:

The Youth Development Professional will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with moderate exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, and temperature and noise extremes.

The physical demands of the job include standing for long periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
