Multifamily Investment Financial Analyst

Job Description Summary

The Multifamily Investment Financial Analyst (MIFA) will play a crucial role in supporting transactions initiated by Cushman & Wakefield's Investment Sales brokerage services, focusing on multifamily investment opportunities.

The primary responsibility of the MIFA is to conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including pricing assessments, development of Excel valuation models, due diligence collection and evaluation, market data gathering, and translating analytical findings into succinct summaries under the guidance of senior members of the Multifamily Advisory Group (MAG).

The ideal candidate will be based in a Cushman & Wakefield office and should be prepared to work on-site. Team members may be required to work beyond standard hours to fulfill project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in executing financial analysis and valuation modeling requests for the MAG Broker team, which includes scenario analyses, underwriting, and evaluating the financial performance and trends of assets.

Prepare pro forma statements, discounted cash flow analyses, and Excel-based financial models, taking into account both current and historical market conditions.

Conduct thorough audits of existing financial models to ensure accuracy of inputs and validity of assumptions.

Perform extensive research, which includes reviewing and analyzing financial reports, examining comparable properties, and gathering demographic and market information; synthesize findings in a clear and concise manner.

Compile relevant information on target markets, such as recent articles, job announcements, and new developments, and provide regular updates to brokers.

Analysis and Reporting

Develop high-level analytical summaries by identifying transaction considerations (strengths/weaknesses), trends, outliers, and logical inconsistencies.

Assist in drafting and preparing Offering Memorandums, Broker Opinions of Value, and Request for Proposals.

Communicate professionally with clients during the sales process, including assisting with marketing timelines, scheduling tours, weekly activity reports, and investor inquiries.

Demonstrate ongoing development of cash flow and Excel modeling skills, with deliverables becoming increasingly complex over time.

Prepare clear and concise documentation and spreadsheets that support and explain the basis of analyses for use in client presentations, Broker Opinions of Value, and marketing materials.

Review tenant leases to extract key data points and identify potential issues that may impact real estate financial analysis, particularly for mixed-use opportunities.

Maintain a database of owners and track loan maturities for business development purposes.

Maintain rent and sales comparison databases.

Review analyses with the deal team, address clarifying questions, and make necessary revisions.

Participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings to present and discuss analyses.

May assist with market research related to prospective transactions.

Participate in broker team calls and meetings as needed.

Perform other related duties as required or requested.
