Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of Learning and Development will lead the design, development, and delivery of learning programs and experiences that enhance the performance of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular needs assessments to identify learning opportunities for staff across the organization.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with Dana-Farber's institutional goals.
  • Lead a team in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs that address skill gaps and professional development needs.
  • Create a learning roadmap incorporating various methodologies, including classroom training, e-learning, coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job learning.
  • Develop and curate a portfolio of learning programs for employees, ensuring accessibility through Dana-Farber's learning management system.
  • Collaborate with talent management colleagues and executive stakeholders to identify leadership competencies and provide learning opportunities to high-potentials.
  • Provide oversight and support to the learning team related to curriculum and instructional design services.
  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the learning management system, acting as a subject matter expert and source of support for learning content creators and local administrators.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of talent development and learning initiatives.
  • Convene major content and learning providers to set policy and practice for learning needs and the shared learning management system.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand learning needs and demonstrate proficiency in managing change, growth, and uncertainty.
  • Manage and mentor a team of learning and development professionals, motivating and enabling them to meet goals and provide excellent service.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Instructional Design, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Seven plus years of talent development and learning experience, with demonstrated success in providing HR services in a large, complex organization.
  • Preferably in sectors such as higher education, academic medicine, research, health care, biomedical/pharma, research, or government, or in management consulting to organizations in these sectors.
  • Preferably, at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and various workplace learning modalities, including e-learning and instructor-led training.
  • Hands-on experience and strong proficiency in an enterprise-scale Learning Management System (HealthStream preferred).
