Family Support Specialist

Position Overview
The Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing essential support to families in need. This role involves managing a small caseload of 4-6 families, ensuring personalized attention and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct family sessions three times a week, accommodating the schedules of the families.
- Participate in three supervision meetings weekly to discuss progress and strategies.
- Utilize web-based documentation tools, including voice recognition technology, to maintain accurate records.
- Provide on-call support to families during weekdays and weekends on a rotating basis.
- Travel up to 60-80 miles to conduct home visits, offering services in diverse community settings.
- Deliver counseling services directly in the homes of families, adapting to various environments.
Compensation and Benefits
Youth Villages New England offers a competitive salary along with professional development opportunities and an additional stipend for on-call duties. The salary is set at $85,000 per year, commensurate with education and clinical licensure.
Work Schedule
The work schedule is flexible and designed around the availability of the youth and families served. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work-related travel, and appropriate auto insurance. Mileage reimbursement is provided for community-based staff.
Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- A Master's degree in a relevant social services field is preferred, along with one year of experience working with youth or families.
- A Bachelor's degree in a social services discipline is required, with two years of experience in a similar role.
- Acceptable degrees include social work, counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Other degrees will be evaluated for qualification.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain a flexible schedule.
- Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
