Position Overview

This role is not eligible for benefits. Employees may work up to 19 hours weekly. Refer to the Work Shift section for details.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks within the laboratory.
  • Conduct analyses and report findings on patient specimens.
  • Collect and process patient specimens for testing.
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Accept and fulfill additional responsibilities as designated by the Associate Director and Assistant Laboratory Manager.
  • Execute and document laboratory quality control measures.
  • Engage in proficiency testing and quality improvement assessments.
  • Perform other related functions as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited two-year Medical Laboratory Technician program.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or an equivalent body.
  • Successful completion of a 15-week training component as part of the educational program.
  • Proven ability to operate clinical laboratory equipment.
  • Experience and moderate proficiency in using personal computers.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with a diverse community, providing services with a non-judgmental approach.
  • Relevant education and experience may be considered as substitutes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in a laboratory setting performing moderate complexity testing.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $24.51


Work Environment
  • Standard office conditions may apply.
  • Potential exposure to biohazards.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard is required.
  • Manual dexterity is necessary.
  • Physical tasks may include lifting and moving.
  • Exposure to chemicals commonly found in offices and medical facilities.

Work Schedule

Up to 19 hours per week, with laboratory hours from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and holiday shifts may be assigned, with scheduling discussed during the interview.
