POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Clinical Laboratory Educator, you will play a pivotal role in the educational journey of students by managing laboratory settings, ensuring the readiness of equipment, and fostering an engaging learning atmosphere. Your responsibilities will include tracking student development, facilitating active participation in lab activities, and collaborating with the lead educator to address any student-related concerns. You will also contribute to the assessment of student performance through practical evaluations and assist in grading essential assignments.


QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree or higher in a relevant field, along with current certification from the state board in their area of expertise. A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a clinical environment is essential. The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication and organizational skills, a commitment to addressing the needs of adult learners, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain the laboratory environment for educational purposes.
  • Organize and oversee laboratory equipment, making recommendations for new acquisitions as necessary.
  • Deliver instruction for the laboratory components of courses.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and encouraging participation.
  • Assess student competencies through practical, oral, and written examinations.
  • Supervise laboratory assistants when available.
  • Submit student grades to the lead educator at the conclusion of each term.
  • Maintain open communication with the lead educator to ensure uniformity in content delivery and testing.
  • Act as a liaison between students and the university.
  • Adhere to policies outlined in the student and faculty handbooks.
  • Exemplify professionalism in all interactions within and outside the educational setting.
  • Engage in self-assessment of teaching effectiveness and set goals for personal development.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

May undertake other duties as assigned by management as needed.

Reports to: Program Director

Supervisory Responsibilities: None


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

To excel in this role, candidates must effectively fulfill each essential duty. The following skills and attributes are necessary:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to serve as a professional role model.
  • Capacity to create a supportive and respectful learning environment.
  • Responsive to the needs of adult learners in distance education.
  • Familiarity with educational theories and motor skill development.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensed occupational, physical, or speech therapist from an accredited institution with expertise in the subject matter.
  • Current certification from the state board in the chosen field.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel may be required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position is primarily office-based, with potential exposure to moderate noise levels. Duties involve the use of personal computer equipment for extended periods and include typical physical demands associated with an office environment, such as walking, standing, and effective communication.


Compensation will be determined based on clinical and teaching experience, with additional pay for weekend lab assignments in the Flex program.
