Laboratory Support Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Laboratory Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the operations of research and development laboratories. This position involves managing purchase order requisitions, coordinating sample collection, maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, and collaborating with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to uphold safe laboratory practices. The specialist will also engage in various equipment-related tasks and execute additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process purchase orders and facilitate sample collection.
• Oversee laboratory inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing supplies, reagents, and materials.
• Confirm receipt of ordered items and inform requestors upon delivery.
• Prepare, aliquot, and stock reagents as needed.
• Document and report key performance indicators related to lab support.
• Collaborate with EHS to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations as well as good laboratory practices.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous and hazardous waste in accordance with EHS guidelines.
• Assist with equipment ordering, maintenance, and documentation.
• Participate in monitoring critical laboratory equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in supporting R&D laboratory operations is advantageous.
