OVERVIEW

As a Clinical Laboratory Educator, you will play a vital role in the educational journey of students by overseeing laboratory operations, preparing the educational environment, and actively engaging students in their learning processes. You will work closely with the lead educator to address student performance and ensure the consistency of educational content and assessments. Additionally, you may assist in evaluating practical assessments and other assignments.


QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree or higher, along with valid certification from the relevant state board in their area of expertise. A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a patient care environment is essential. Strong oral communication and organizational skills are necessary, as well as the ability to respond effectively to the needs of adult learners and collaborate within a team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain the laboratory environment.
  • Organize and manage laboratory equipment; recommend equipment purchases as necessary.
  • Deliver instructional content for the laboratory component of the course.
  • Monitor and assess student progress; provide constructive feedback and facilitate active participation in learning activities.
  • Evaluate student performance through practical, oral, and written assessments.
  • Supervise laboratory assistants when available.
  • Report student grades to the lead educator at the conclusion of the term.
  • Collaborate with the lead educator to ensure uniformity in content delivery and assessments, and suggest improvements for future terms.
  • Act as a liaison between students and the university.
  • Adhere to policies outlined in the student and part-time faculty handbook.
  • Exemplify professionalism by modeling appropriate behaviors in and out of the educational setting.
  • Engage in self-evaluation of teaching effectiveness and establish goals for professional development.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

May undertake other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel is expected for this position.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role is primarily conducted in a standard office environment, with potential exposure to moderate noise levels. Daily operations may involve the use of personal computer equipment for extended periods, alongside physical activities typical of an office setting, such as walking, standing, and communication.


Compensation for Clinical Laboratory Educators is based on clinical and teaching experience, with additional remuneration for specific assignments that may require weekend labs.
