About the Role:

The Vermont Association of Conservation Districts (VACD) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agriculture Resource Specialist/Projects Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the conservation efforts of Addison County's land stewards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outreach, education, and technical assistance to farmers and forest land managers in Addison County to help them access financial support for conservation best management practice implementation.
  • Assist the Otter Creek Natural Resources Conservation District with needs assessments, community engagement initiatives, and project coordination.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of financial assistance programs provided by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, the US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, and other funders.
  • Collaborate with a diversity of farmers, peers, and partner organizations to achieve conservation goals.
  • Work independently within a complex programmatic context, requiring strong self-direction and problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of relevant on-the-job experience in conservation, agriculture, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Computer literacy in a range of software, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and insured motor vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Familiarity with the natural resource concerns affecting Vermont and Addison County.
