Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at Penn State Health. As a key member of our Non-Invasive Cardiology department, you will be responsible for performing various stress tests and other diagnostic procedures to assess cardiovascular health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer treadmill and ergometer protocols for stress tests, including monitoring, recording, and interpreting EKG tracings for diagnostic purposes.
  • Determine appropriate testing protocols and recognize the presence of permanent pacemakers.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient tolerance to tests, including chest pain, and prepare studies for physician interpretation.
  • Provide care to patients, including obtaining histories, assessing patient conditions, collecting and interpreting clinical information, and explaining procedures.
  • Maintain operational knowledge of Noninvasive Cardiology equipment and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as scheduling procedures, inventory management, and transport tracking.
  • Train and precept new employees.
  • Perform electrocardiograms and possess knowledge of rhythm recognition to notify physicians of abnormal EKGs.
Requirements
  • Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology or other Allied Health-related degree.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification) required within six months of hire.
  • CPR/BLS certificate for Health Care Providers required.
  • A minimum of 6 months clinical cardiovascular experience or equivalent internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist Certification.
  • Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) or AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional.
