Job Title: Exercise Physiologist II - RN CVU - Cardiovascular Unit Imaging

Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) team. As an Exercise Physiologist II, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining patient flow, designing exercise parameters, and ensuring the overall safety of patients during exercise/testing sessions. You will also assume an elevated role, instructing students and new hires, and actively participating in a selected special interest project. As a mentor to less experienced staff, you will provide guidance and support to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, assess, and provide care for patients throughout procedures, including exercise stress tests, cardiopulmonary stress tests, pharmacological stress tests, stress echocardiograms, and nuclear stress tests.
  • Administer treadmill and ergometer protocols for various stress tests, monitoring, recording, and interpreting EKG tracings for diagnostic purposes.
  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond according to emergency protocols, utilizing BLS and ACLS skills, and obtaining emergency medical equipment.
  • Provide direct patient care to assigned patient age groups, assessing and interpreting patient age-specific data, and providing appropriate treatment.
  • Maintain established policies and procedures, safety, and environmental and infection control standards, cleaning equipment, and fostering teamwork.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology and/or other Allied Health-related degree required.
  • CPR/BLS certificate for Health Care Providers required.
