Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at Penn State Health. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for performing various stress tests and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures, utilizing your clinical knowledge and professional judgment to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer treadmill and ergometer protocols for stress tests, including monitoring, recording, and interpreting EKG tracings for diagnostic purposes.
  • Determine appropriate testing protocols and recognize the presence of permanent pacemakers.
  • Calculate and record diagnostic parameters, monitor and evaluate patient tolerance to tests, and prepare studies for physician interpretation.
  • Provide patient safety by recognizing cardiac arrhythmias and responding according to emergency protocols, utilizing BLS and ACLS skills and obtaining emergency medical equipment.
  • Obtain patient history, assess patient condition, collect and interpret clinical information for appropriateness of ordered tests, explain procedures, and obtain acknowledgement forms.
  • Maintain operational knowledge of Noninvasive Cardiology equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties, including scheduling procedures, inventory management, transport tracking, and answering phone calls.
  • Train and precept new employees.
Requirements
  • Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology or other Allied Health-related degree required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification) required within six months of hire.
  • CPR/BLS certificate for Health Care Providers required.
  • A minimum of 6 months clinical cardiovascular experience or equivalent internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist Certification desired.
  • Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) or AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional desired.
