We are seeking a contract Mechanical Engineer I to join our team. This role involves the creation of detailed design documentation based on engineering specifications with minimal oversight.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are critical for the effective execution of this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
  • Develop original design concepts rooted in sound engineering principles independently.
  • Execute design activities including the generation of 2D layouts or 3D models from sketches and engineering data to ascertain the dimensions, shape, and arrangement of components.
  • Specify part requirements such as dimensions, tolerances, finishes, materials, and clearances.
  • Create installation, assembly, and detailed drawings derived from 2D layouts or 3D models.
  • Conduct analyses to support design tasks or to address technical challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing throughout all stages of training equipment production, including fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation.
  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently while demonstrating initiative and independent thinking to devise potential solutions to challenges using available resources.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities within a team by organizing and delegating work packages to fellow team members.
  • Operate within departmental budgets and timelines.
  • Approach problem-solving with a focus on identifying the most effective overall solutions.
  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy in interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in a collaborative environment through constructive behavior, commitment to shared objectives, contribution to problem-solving, and open communication of ideas and suggestions.
  • Ensure the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control regulations and safeguard sensitive materials, projects, and business information.
  • Be accountable for the accuracy and thoroughness of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a consistent work schedule with punctual and regular attendance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a state of alertness and safety.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modeling software, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. Experience in stress or vibrational analysis is advantageous.
