Role Overview

As AESC Group expands its battery manufacturing facilities across the Southeastern United States, we are enhancing our engineering teams to ensure successful plant launches.

In the role of Senior Engineer for Facility Control Systems, you will work collaboratively with diverse teams to integrate various industrial facility systems, including:

  • Compressed Air
  • Cooling Water
  • Chillers
  • HVAC
  • Lighting
  • Security
  • Fire Suppression
  • Manufacturing Equipment

We are in search of a leader in automation who can guide engineering contractors and integrators in developing a fully integrated and automated facility.

Your Team

You will report directly to the Controls Engineering Manager within our Global Industrial Development function. Collaborating closely with a team of skilled professionals, you will contribute to our collective success in a dynamic work environment that values creativity and initiative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contractor Management: Collaborate with general contractors and engineering design contractors to assess and approve facility control system designs.
  • Vendor Relations: Lead interactions with external suppliers for facility equipment, ensuring the acquisition of state-of-the-art components.
  • Instrumentation Support: Assist process engineers in selecting and positioning instrumentation, including air particle sensors and temperature sensors.
  • SCADA/HMI Development: Partner with the team to create standard HMI and SCADA designs.
  • Standards Development: Establish standard specifications and design bases for an integrated and automated battery manufacturing facility.
  • Controller Familiarity: Knowledge of various controllers and control systems, including PLCs and DDCs.
  • Performance Monitoring: Implement advanced monitoring protocols for facility performance and predictive maintenance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure effective communication.
  • Commissioning Oversight: Supervise integrators to ensure timely commissioning of control systems.
  • Operational Support: Assist local personnel with daily facility operations.
  • Training Initiatives: Provide training for local facility operations and maintenance teams.
  • Optimization Assessments: Conduct regular evaluations to identify opportunities for system enhancements.
  • Leadership Development: Demonstrate leadership by guiding team members and fostering a collaborative work culture.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed on industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to emerging standards and regulations related to facility controls.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in designing and optimizing facility control systems in industrial settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial hardware and software with expertise in control strategies.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as Profinet, ModbusTCP, and BACnet.
  • Proficiency in programming languages used in PLC-controlled facilities.
  • Experience with integrated facility safety systems.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC S7 and Ignition by Inductive Automation is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in mentoring engineers.
