Job Summary

As a Patient Access Representative II with Conifer Revenue Cycle Solutions, you will play a critical role in supporting the efficient operation of our healthcare facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include performing scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions. You will be responsible for obtaining complete and accurate patient demographic information, as well as employing proper and compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during, and after the date of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and Registration
    • Complete patient registration at the time of service, adhering to financial and cash control policies and procedures.
    • Thoroughly explain and secure hospital and patient legal forms, such as Advance Directives, Conditions of Service, Consent for Treatment, and Important Message from Medicare.
  • Patient Financial Liability
    • Educate patients about their financial liabilities and employ proper and compliant patient liability collection techniques.
    • Perform hospital cash reconciliation and secure payment entry in adherence to financial and cash control policies and procedures.
  • Medical Necessity and Insurance Verification
    • Secure medical necessity checks and verification in accordance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
    • Verify insurance, benefits, coverage, and eligibility, and complete assigned registration financial clearance work lists activities.
    • Obtain insurance authorizations for scheduled and unscheduled hospital services, and secure inpatient visit notification to payors.
  • Customer Service and Communication
    • Provide world-class customer service, greeting patients and families in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • 0-1 year of experience in a customer service role, with 0-1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related area preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer.
    • Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment preferred.
    • Customer service skills and experience.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications.
    • Course in Medical Terminology required.
    • Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements preferred.
    • Understanding of Compliance standards preferred.

Work Environment

As a Patient Access Representative II with Conifer Revenue Cycle Solutions, you will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination. You will be required to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods, occasionally lift/carry items weighing up to 25 lbs, and frequently stand, sit, and walk. You may also be required to push a wheelchair to assist patients with mobility problems.
