Position Summary

The Clinical Operations Nurse Coordinator embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

This role involves overseeing the daily clinical operations at practice sites, managing clinical support personnel, coordinating schedules for clinical staff and providers, and addressing service recovery as needed. The Coordinator serves as the clinical lead and subject matter expert at the local level, ensuring that staff knowledge, competence, and processes align with evidence-based practices for high-quality patient care. Under the clinical supervision of the Director of Clinical Practice and the administrative guidance of the Clinical/Practice Administrator, the Coordinator plays a key role in planning, leading, and organizing activities related to quality patient care within the practice. Direct patient care will be provided less than twenty percent of the time in this position, and the Coordinator may oversee multiple sites or departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the clinical support staff, ensuring effective workload distribution and task prioritization.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions of staff.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations within budgetary constraints.
  • Assist in managing provider schedule templates to optimize patient care hours and enhance productivity.
  • Allocate resources and schedule staff to maximize patient access, satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate front-line communication with staff to gather and provide feedback on clinical workflows and productivity.
  • Ensure the delivery of service excellence and manage service recovery when necessary.
  • Manage medical-surgical supplies in accordance with budget guidelines.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data collection and entry by site staff through training and compliance monitoring.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings in collaboration with practice leadership.
  • Attend and actively engage in leadership meetings.
  • Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Review and approve automated time reports for accuracy.
  • Develop tools to support staff and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide input for staff performance reviews and participate in conducting these evaluations.
  • Monitor daily transactions to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Address complex situations involving patients, staff, and customers, consulting with management as needed.
  • Implement and uphold new policies and procedures established by leadership.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Current state licensure or certification in a clinical field.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of degree within two years of hire.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • A minimum of five years of clinical experience.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from an accredited source.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience in an ambulatory clinic setting.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
