Job Summary

The US Department of Homeland Security is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Innovation Officer to lead our efforts in driving innovation and strategic change within the organization. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems, leveraging expertise in federal law enforcement, border security, and trade/passenger processing programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic innovation plans to drive business growth and improvement
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and monitor secure and ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize innovation opportunities
  • Manage and oversee innovation projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies
Requirements
  • Expert federal law enforcement experience related to border security and/or trade/passenger processing programs
  • Expert knowledge of and experience leading innovation strategies and programs
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
