Position: Senior Cybersecurity Engineer for Industrial Control Systems

Key Responsibilities:

*This role may be filled as a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer or Analyst based on qualifications and experience.*

In this capacity, the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will play a pivotal role in assessing and implementing network frameworks and cybersecurity measures within nuclear facilities worldwide. The selected candidate will collaborate with the Distributed Control & Information System Platform & Cybersecurity team, engaging in various tasks that leverage their expertise in cybersecurity methodologies and technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in information assurance and cybersecurity as applied to industrial control systems, technical security evaluations, and general IT and networking principles.

The candidate is expected to provide technical guidance and leadership in cybersecurity, demonstrating extensive knowledge across multiple specializations within the cybersecurity domain and industrial control systems architecture. Responsibilities include delivering technical leadership for the design, construction, configuration, and testing of security systems and industrial control networks.

  • Contribute to project teams as the cybersecurity engineer, both in-office and at operational sites.
  • Conduct complex network architecture and cybersecurity assessments, product configurations, integration testing, and troubleshooting of intricate issues.
  • Compile asset inventories, including software and firmware specifications, to support cybersecurity evaluations.
  • For various ongoing initiatives, produce network and system specification documentation to address cybersecurity vulnerabilities and the necessary security controls to mitigate risks.
  • Create technical documentation such as configuration guides, requirements traceability documents, testing plans, procedures, reports, and user administration manuals.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing with internal and external stakeholders, including delivering presentations, technical training, and facilitating knowledge transfer.
  • Identify and assist in developing new business prospects, contributing to project proposals and associated technical descriptions.
  • Interpret cybersecurity program policies and aid in procedure formulation.
  • Perform system administration, network setup, and virtual environment management (Windows Server and client system administration expertise).
  • Participate in master planning efforts for control systems security, focusing on Ovation control systems, including the application of host-based security solutions from a centralized server and secure configuration of system components.
  • Implement network security measures, including firewalls, data diodes, security information and event management, and network intrusion detection systems.
  • Travel up to 25% for system deployment and commissioning activities.
Qualifications:

Technical Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer), Computer Science, Information Sciences and Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

Experience Requirements:
  • Eligibility for 10 CFR 73.56 Trustworthy and Reliable clearance.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience (preferably 8-10 years) in IT/OT engineering, administration, and security.
  • Experience in requirements management or security audits/assessments.
  • Familiarity with common PLC, SCADA, and DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson Ovation).
  • Experience in an industrial Operational Technology environment.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge in areas such as network design, Windows Domain setup, security, and group policy configuration.
  • Experience with security control frameworks such as NIST 800-53, 20 Critical Controls, ISO 27002, NEI 08-09.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for system integration challenges, with experience in cybersecurity, networking, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience in industrial settings or with industrial control systems is advantageous.
Certifications:

At least one of the following security certifications from a recognized organization is preferred but not mandatory:
  • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) or equivalent.
  • GIAC Systems and Network Auditor (GSNA), ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Cisco Security Certification (CCNP).
  • ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Other relevant technical certifications from reputable vendors and certification bodies.
