Position Overview

Reports to: Product Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and communicate potential cost-saving opportunities within the organization.
  • Maintain comprehensive product engineering documentation, including drawings and files.
  • Ensure the precise creation and distribution of component lists.
  • Design and uphold bill of material functions.
  • Recognize potential challenges that may impact change implementation and propose effective countermeasures.
  • Support and participate in all necessary customer and internal functional trials and meetings.
  • Establish schedules, prioritize tasks, and initiate action plans for requested design modifications.
  • Update various internal and external customer groups on the status of changes.
  • Review specification documents and development plans thoroughly.
  • Compile images and drawings from customer-supplied documents and component lists for internal reference.
  • Attend meetings and provide necessary support and documentation for various marketing and sales inquiries.
  • Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to identify root causes and develop solutions.
  • Participate in trial activities coordinated by Quality and/or Engineering teams.
  • Monitor material performance and assess material degradation.
  • Adhere to established work practices that ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, 5S practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Senior Product Engineer: Mentor new product engineers and PE technicians regarding engineering, departmental, and company responsibilities.

Educational Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in industrial technology, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Product Engineering Technician.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in using the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Information:

  • Willingness to travel with limited notice is essential.

Work Environment: This position operates in both an office and manufacturing setting, frequently utilizing standard office equipment. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations, with a noise level that can be high.

Physical Requirements: The employee is often required to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be necessary. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. There may also be instances of working in elevated temperatures.
