Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Editorial and Communications Assistant to join our team at the Association of American Universities (AAU). This role will support the AAU Communications Department's mission to enhance the brand of, shape the narrative about, and advance the policy interests of America's leading research universities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the drafting, production, and distribution of AAU's public communications
  • Plan and manage meetings for AAU's constituent group for top communications professionals at our member universities
  • Manage departmental records and help organize content on the departmental SharePoint site
  • Support special communications projects
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in content creation roles, including research, drafting, editing, and proofreading
  • 1-3 years of experience in administrative support roles involving organization, coordination, and managing multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills with a command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Superior organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, marketing, or other related majors
  • Experience working in a non-profit, association, and/or higher-education setting
  • Experience with Zoom, SharePoint, OneDrive, association management systems, CRM, mass email systems, and website content management systems

  • A base annual salary of $52,000 - $58,000 (commensurate with experience)
