Position Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to addressing complex business challenges in a collaborative and innovative environment. We are looking for Backend Software Engineers who are enthusiastic about integrating data with cutting-edge technologies.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving significant transformations within the organization.


Team Information:


The Enterprise OneStream RunTime team, part of the Enterprise Data and Machine Learning (EDML) division, manages AWS-hosted Data Ingestion and Processing applications, facilitating a centralized data movement platform across Capital One.

You will have the chance to explore various data patterns across the organization and tackle unique engineering challenges related to data integrity, security, and scalability.

Your focus will be on designing and implementing platform architecture to ensure the high availability of our managed environment.

You will work on the application service layer developed in Spark and Scala, operating on EMR and orchestrated by Python Lambdas, while troubleshooting application and environmental issues and optimizing compute utilization.


Key Responsibilities:


- Lead the technical design and solutions with extensive experience in distributed computing, managing data processing at a scale that handles trillions of records daily.
- Share your enthusiasm for keeping abreast of technological advancements, experimenting with new tools, engaging in technology communities, mentoring fellow engineers, and occasionally coding or reviewing code.
- Collaborate with product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance the Data Processing platform.
- Utilize programming languages such as Scala, Spark, Python, NoSQL databases, and various AWS tools and services.


Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience is not applicable)
- At least 1 year of experience in cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Scala, Python
- 3+ years of experience with Spark
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
- 1+ years of experience in people management
- 2+ years of experience in Agile methodologies
