Job Summary

This role provides critical support in the litigation process, working closely with attorneys to ensure effective case management and preparation. As a Staff Counsel Litigation Paralegal, you will be responsible for assisting in trial preparation, drafting legal documents, and conducting research under the supervision of an attorney.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including organizing and summarizing medical records, and drafting pleadings and discovery documents.
  • Conduct research and investigations, gathering and summarizing medical records, and preparing exhibits for trial.
  • Draft discovery responses and assist in the preparation of witnesses and demonstrative evidence for trial.
  • Represent the company in small claims/conciliation court, as needed.
  • Review files to determine issues, records needed, and potential settlement opportunities.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a Paralegal program, or a Paralegal Certification, or a BA degree, or one year of law school, and/or five years' experience in the legal field preferred.
  • Multiline Insurance Defense Staff Counsel experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of CT laws and regulations, and experience with electronic court filing systems in CT.
  • Experience ordering medical records and drafting medical chronologies.
  • Experience independently drafting dispositive/non-dispositive motions or other pleading.
  • Experience drafting discovery responses.
