Staff Counsel III-Workers Compensation Attorney

AmTrust Financial Services, a leading Property and Casualty Insurance company, is seeking a highly skilled Workers Compensation Staff Attorney to join its team. This is a 100% remote opportunity, and the ideal candidate must be based in the state of Connecticut.
Responsibilities
As a Workers Compensation Staff Attorney, you will be responsible for independently representing the Employer/Carrier before the assigned Judge of Compensation Claims and presenting witnesses and evidence at administrative hearings on litigated workers' compensation claims. Your duties will include:
- Analyzing complex legal and factual issues, conducting extensive research, and developing and presenting defense strategies on behalf of the Employer/Carrier.
- Preparing pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies.
- Providing effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims professionals on legal and factual issues.
- Using independent judgment, research, litigation, and analytical skills to assist in developing training materials for the WC claim department and working with the WC claim department and Law Department on special projects related to the practice of workers' compensation.
- Communicating with the Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims, witnesses, opposing counsel, and clients in a manner consistent with established office procedures.
- Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Attending continuing legal education seminars to maintain a high level of professional expertise.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- CT licensed attorney.
- Knowledge of CT Workers' Compensation statutes and its application.
- 7+ years' workers' compensation litigation experience.
