Job Title: Director of Counseling Center

Join Ocean County College as a Director of Counseling Center and lead the development and implementation of counseling services that support the academic and personal growth of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for counseling services, ensuring alignment with the College's mission and goals.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Counseling Center, including staff supervision, training, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, CARE Team, and other campus entities to address student behavioral and emotional issues.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop and deliver psychoeducational programs addressing student development and well-being.
  • Manage the department's operating budget and oversee staff responsible for federal and state grant-funded programs.
  • Serve as the principal counseling resource and liaison with campus departments, providing consultation services and collaborating on faculty and staff training.
  • Effectively communicate program, administrative, and clinical direction to counseling staff, discussing challenging cases and making recommendations.
  • Prepare and evaluate statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to inform leadership about trends, service demand, and opportunities for program improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical responsibilities related to suicide prevention, alcohol and substance abuse education, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage secure storage and confidentiality of counseling records, ensuring the proper use of technology to meet the evolving needs of the student population.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field.
  • Three years of field experience with a diverse client population, two years directing a team of professionals, and two years in a higher education setting.
  • Licensed as a professional counselor, licensed clinical social worker, or psychologist in New Jersey or ability to attain licensure within six months of employment.
  • Proficiency in data collection and management using Microsoft Office, web-based tools, and database systems.
  • Demonstrated strong supervisory and leadership skills.
