Counseling Center Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of the Counseling Center at Ocean County College. The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight for all administrative, counseling, crisis intervention, and development services offered to students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans for counseling and intervention services, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to ethical and legal requirements.
- Oversee daily operations of the Counseling Center, managing the recruitment, training, supervision, development, and evaluation of personnel.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, CARE Team, and other campus entities to address student behavioral and emotional issues, classroom concerns, and current behavioral health issues.
- Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation on mental health and behavioral issues, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards.
- Develop and deliver psychoeducational programs addressing student development and well-being, leading the implementation of campus-wide crisis intervention protocols.
- Manage the department's operating budget and oversee staff responsible for federal and state grant-funded programs, ensuring compliance with financial and reporting requirements.
- Serve as the principal counseling resource and liaison with campus departments, providing consultation services and collaborating on faculty and staff training.
- Effectively communicate program, administrative, and clinical direction to counseling staff, discussing challenging cases and making recommendations.
- Prepare and evaluate statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to inform leadership about trends, service demand, and opportunities for program improvement.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical responsibilities related to suicide prevention, alcohol and substance abuse education, and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage secure storage and confidentiality of counseling records in both electronic and physical formats.
- Related duties, initiatives, and projects as assigned.
- Master's Degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field.
- Three years of field experience with a diverse client population, two years directing a team of professionals, and two years in a higher education setting.
- Licensed as a professional counselor, licensed clinical social worker, or psychologist in New Jersey or ability to attain licensure within six months of employment.
- Proficiency in data collection and management using Microsoft Office, web-based tools, and database systems.
- Demonstrated strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Experience working with alcohol/substance abuse issues.
