Key Responsibilities of the Safety and Security Specialist include:

  • Responding promptly and effectively to both urgent and routine situations.
  • Ensuring that only authorized individuals gain access to the hospital premises.
  • Reacting swiftly to emergency calls for assistance in managing disorderly conduct or aggressive patients.
  • Conducting regular patrols of buildings and grounds; inspecting doors, windows, and locks to assess security levels.
  • Investigating incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital staff, visitors, physicians, or patients.
  • Documenting all incidents, either verbally or through written reports, before the end of the shift.
  • Inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire safety equipment and apparatus within the hospital and at off-site locations; performing fire and safety inspections of facilities.
  • Providing training to hospital personnel on fire safety and prevention measures.
  • Managing and directing vehicular traffic; ensuring emergency vehicle access and monitoring parking areas for irregularities.
  • Offering assistance and courteous responses to inquiries from patients, visitors, or staff.
  • Preparing accurate, clear, and legible reports.

Qualifications for the Safety and Security Specialist role include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the security field, preferably within a healthcare setting, or a newly licensed security officer currently enrolled in relevant college courses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Possession of a valid NYS Security License.
  • A valid NYS driver's license is required.

Compensation:
USD $28.00 /Hr.

This salary range is a good faith estimate and actual compensation will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. The listed salary does not encompass bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation that may apply to this position, nor does it include the value of benefits.
