Job Summary:

SightMD is a rapidly growing integrated ophthalmic provider group seeking a highly skilled Senior Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an assistant to our physicians, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care to patients across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and greet patients, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures, providing top-notch support.
  • Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure patient understanding of all instructions, providing clear guidance and support.
  • Precept and train fellow technicians, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments, upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Perform ancillary testing and document results, providing valuable insights to our medical team.
  • Administer medications according to compliance standards, prioritizing patient safety.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep, ensuring our facilities are well-stocked and well-maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire.
