Homelessness represents a significant social and public health challenge in California. Illumination Foundation (IF) is a dynamic non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness by offering specialized, interdisciplinary services across our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing assistance, and programs for children and families. Currently, IF operates over 13 facilities with more than 22 micro-communities throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire.


Position Summary
The Benefits Enrollment Specialist plays a crucial role in verifying client records to ensure MediCal enrollment, assisting clients with MediCal and Medicare applications, and liaising with hospitals regarding Illumination Foundation's recuperative care initiatives.
The compensation for this role is $26.00 per hour, contingent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Illumination Foundation client records to verify MediCal benefits enrollment.
  • Conduct necessary insurance data clean-ups.
  • Support clients with MediCal recertification and enrollment processes.
  • Identify clients eligible for Medicare and assist them in benefits enrollment.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of MediCal and Medicare insurance systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Managed Care Plans available in Southern California.
  • Show familiarity with local hospitals and effectively communicate recuperative care services.
  • Possess adequate knowledge of Social Services Agency and Department of Public Social Services procedures.
  • Act ethically, embodying core values of integrity, transparency, accountability, respect, and responsibility.
  • Model openness, honesty, and accountability towards colleagues, volunteers, donors, and all stakeholders.
  • Accept personal responsibility for the execution of duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding work-related information and materials.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Valid CA Driver's License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, public administration, or a related discipline.
  • Strong customer and client relations skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Understanding of MediCal, Medicare, and the continuum of care for homeless services.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience in homeless services.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
