MediCal Enrollment Coordinator

Homelessness represents a significant social and public health challenge in California. Illumination Foundation (IF) is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on breaking the cycle of homelessness through specialized, interdisciplinary services across our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing initiatives, and programs for children and families. With over 13 facilities and more than 22 micro-communities throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire, we are committed to making a difference.
Position Summary
The Benefits Enrollment Specialist plays a crucial role in reviewing client records to verify MediCal enrollment, assisting clients with MediCal and Medicare applications, and liaising with hospitals regarding the recuperative care services offered by Illumination Foundation.
The compensation for this role is $26.00 per hour, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Review client records to ensure accurate MediCal benefits enrollment.
- Conduct necessary insurance data clean-ups.
- Assist clients with MediCal recertification and enrollment processes.
- Identify clients eligible for Medicare and guide them through the enrollment process.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of MediCal and Medicare insurance systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Managed Care Plans available in Southern California.
- Maintain familiarity with local hospitals and effectively communicate recuperative care services.
- Possess a solid understanding of Social Services Agency and Department of Public Social Services procedures.
- Act ethically, reflecting the core values of integrity, transparency, accountability, respect, and responsibility.
- Foster openness, honesty, and accountability with colleagues, volunteers, donors, and stakeholders.
- Accept personal responsibility for the performance of assigned duties.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding work-related information and materials.

Qualifications
Required:
- Valid California Driver's License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, public administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong customer and client relations skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Understanding of MediCal, Medicare, and the continuum of care for homeless services.
Preferred:
- Two or more years of experience in homeless services.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
