An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Field Engineer specializing in Control Systems. As a pivotal member of our team, you will be tasked with the maintenance and support of propulsion control systems provided by Kongsberg Maritime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct both preventative and corrective maintenance on Kongsberg control systems.
- Interpret technical drawings and control system architectures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in PC skills, including networking and troubleshooting.
- Utilize multimeters and software tools for diagnosing communication or loop errors.
- Possess a solid understanding of Power Management Systems, generators, and governor control functionalities.
- Work with AC/DC electrical motors and modify control logic as necessary.
- Familiarize yourself with various communication protocols (CAN, 232, 422, 485, TCP/IP, etc.).
- Complete and submit timesheets and expense reports promptly.
- Take ownership of assigned cases and service trips.
- Propose enhancements to our products and communicate needs to the Service Manager or product department.
- Offer proactive suggestions to clients regarding available upgrades and new products during onboard visits.
- Implement actions to mitigate errors in our deliveries and after-sales services.
- Assist Aftermarket Sales with aftersales quotations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry/military training.
- Understanding of general Electrical/Electronic control system principles, including PID controllers and communication protocols.
- Ability to produce and interpret technical documentation effectively.
- Experience troubleshooting low voltage electrical components and using multimeters.
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems and their architecture is highly desirable.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to perform under pressure and maintain effective communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
- Possess a valid Passport and authorized to work lawfully in the US without company sponsorship.
- Willingness to travel on short notice, including after hours, weekends, and holidays, both locally and internationally.
