Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Finance will be instrumental in the Accounting department, collaborating closely with the Executive Vice President of Accounting/Finance & HR and the Senior Vice President of Accounting to ensure the department functions efficiently and effectively. Key responsibilities include the timely issuance of comprehensive financial statements, adherence to all internal and external reporting deadlines, and delivering high-quality financial analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, possess outstanding organizational skills, and be a collaborative team player capable of adapting to a dynamic business environment. This role will also support strategic initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and accuracy of monthly financial statements by established deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory standards.
  • Support the development and review of annual and monthly departmental budgets and forecasts.
  • Contribute to the monthly cash flow projection report to maintain adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Analyze financial data (balance sheet and income statement) monthly and provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate with the EVP & SVP to ensure timely audits and the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Oversee daily accounting and finance operations, excluding accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of the ERP system, ensuring data integrity and process optimization.
  • Supervise accounting staff.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies and procedures, contributing to process improvement and best practices.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for special projects, acquisitions, or other initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and/or MBA is highly preferred.
  • 7-10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in not-for-profit accounting is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, including unrelated business income tax (UBIT).
  • Strong analytical skills for developing and implementing improvements and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives and staff at all levels, as well as mentor and lead team members.
  • Experience with accounting software system implementation and development is a plus, with a preference for SAGE Intacct experience.
