Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will collaborate closely with the Board of Trustees, guiding the organization’s staff and executing both immediate strategies and long-term objectives. The CEO will ensure that all operational, financial, fundraising, marketing, human resources, research, technology, and programmatic goals are effectively prioritized and executed across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Mission Advancement

The CEO is tasked with promoting the mission of The Batten Group, which focuses on improving the lives of those affected by Huntington's disease. This will involve managing initiatives related to Care, Community, and Cure through funding research, educational programs, and community engagement. The CEO will work alongside the Board to develop and adapt strategies that enhance the organization’s impact, including fundraising efforts to support these initiatives.

Fundraising and Resource Development

The CEO will lead efforts in fundraising, overseeing the identification and cultivation of potential donors and corporate partners. This includes leveraging personal and professional networks to create fundraising opportunities and fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization.

Strategic Leadership

The CEO will serve as the primary resource for the Board of Trustees, providing direction in policy development and interpretation. Collaborating with the Board and senior leadership, the CEO will establish organizational goals and devise strategies to ensure their achievement.

Organizational Management

The CEO is responsible for building high-performing teams and ensuring alignment across all departments to achieve organizational objectives. This includes maintaining accountability for the organization’s operational and financial integrity, assessing capacity, identifying gaps, and supervising senior leadership roles. The CEO will also prioritize initiatives to meet significant goals outlined in the strategic plan.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills combined with strong management capabilities.
  • A deep commitment to advancing the mission of The Batten Group.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the nonprofit sector and experience working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Expertise in philanthropy, research, advocacy, and nonprofit management.
  • Extensive experience in senior leadership roles within organizations of similar size and mission.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing partnerships and fostering team dynamics.
  • Track record of increasing philanthropic support and revenue generation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support effective decision-making.
  • Unwavering integrity and a strong sense of accountability.
