Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Youth Development Coordinator to join our team at Lines for Life. This role will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers for our peer-to-peer YouthLine program.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in youth development, crisis intervention, and volunteer management. They will be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people, establish rapport with youth and parents, and provide constructive feedback.

The Youth Development Coordinator will collaborate with our Outreach/education team to create and implement a recruitment plan for youth and adult volunteers and interns. They will also assist with coordinating logistics for crisis intervention trainings and schedule volunteers for training, shadows, and weekly shift coverage.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires working in-person at our headquarters in Portland several days a week and occasionally working from home. The compensation for this role is $22.50 - $23/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers for the YouthLine program
  • Collaborate with the Outreach/education team to create and implement a recruitment plan
  • Coordinate logistics for crisis intervention trainings
  • Schedule volunteers for training, shadows, and weekly shift coverage
  • Communicate important information to volunteers in a timely manner
  • Systematically check in with volunteers and offer support as needed
  • Maintain current information for all volunteers
  • Attend supervision meetings for insight and information sharing

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least 2 years' experience working with youth
  • Crisis intervention knowledge and skills
  • Strong networking skills and recruiting skills
  • Strong training, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Able to work with diverse groups of people and establish rapport with youth and parents
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to think systematically
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience recruiting a large number of staff and/or volunteers
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), safeTALK, and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) certifications
