POSITION SUMMARY
The Heartland Housing Sanctuary program offers various services to individuals affected by human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Our services include crisis stabilization shelter, mobile advocacy, and both Transitional and Rapid Re-Housing support. We adopt a trauma-informed, low-barrier approach to maximize client success.
This role involves providing direct assistance to survivors and managing numerous administrative and program-related tasks. The Trafficking Intake and Program Support Specialist serves as the primary contact for clients, community members, and partners. Responsibilities include screening potential clients, completing intake documentation, assisting with data entry into our Electronic Health Record system, performing reception duties, and undertaking additional tasks as required. Attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for this position.
Compensation begins at $19.74, with increases based on relevant experience.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM (between 37.5 and 40 hours per week)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field, with two years of direct care experience preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Bilingual candidates, particularly those fluent in Spanish, are preferred.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit advanced crisis intervention skills while working with a diverse clientele.
- Perform reception duties, accurately taking messages and directing clients and the public appropriately.
- Provide necessary information to staff regarding client interactions to assist with discharge planning.
- Assist in inventory management of program and office supplies.
- Support the duplication and organization of program materials.
- Manage file organization as needed.
- Support shelter staff and oversee the main shelter office to ensure adequate assistance is provided.
- Conduct screening and intake processes for clients.
- Perform data entry and upload documents into the Electronic Health Record system.
- Provide problem-solving and crisis intervention for client inquiries and assist with shelter transitions.
- Help therapeutic clients with pre-screening documentation.
- Maintain program calendars, databases, and file organization.
- Inform supervisors of any emerging patterns related to the Sanctuary House program.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality regarding scheduling and attendance.
- Facilitate weekly program meetings and other assigned meetings.
- Keep common areas of the facility organized.
- Assist in monitoring client medication during designated times.
- Handle incoming program/client mail and prepare outgoing correspondence.
- Maintain a courteous and compassionate demeanor towards clients, volunteers, and visitors.
- Collaborate effectively with agency and external staff.
- Adhere to all program and agency policies and procedures.
- Engage in professional development through training opportunities.
- Create and maintain a personal and program-related self-care plan.
- Seek to connect the agency with the broader community to support fundraising and outreach efforts.
- Perform other program-related duties as assigned.
