Job Summary

The Pharmacy Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. This position is responsible for providing managerial support to the Director of Pharmacy and other pharmacy department leaders, as well as coordinating and supervising the daily activities of pharmacy staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement institutional policy and practice at the department level, and oversee day-to-day operations and workflow of the pharmacy department.
  • Assist in the planning, development, organization, operation, and evaluation of pharmacy services, and assess and change pharmacy operations in coordination with the pharmacy management team.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate information systems to optimize pharmacy workflow, and assure compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Assure pharmacy staff development, new employee orientation, and ongoing training in the pharmacy, and help assure that policies and procedures are updated and followed.
  • Direct the preparation of written or oral reports at shift change to communicate incomplete assignments and potential patient safety concerns, and assure continuity of medication therapy and accurate patient charges and credits.
Requirements
  • B.S. or PharmD. Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy.
  • 4 years experience as a hospital pharmacist.
  • ASHP accredited residency or advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MS) preferred.
  • Applicable State Pharmacy License required.
  • Consultant License (if applicable per state) required.
